• Will this system be able to handle all or only part of my heating needs?
• If only part of my heating needs, will the system work with my existing furnace?
• What temperature ranges can it operate at?
• How do you estimate the size of heat pump needed for my home? (should do a heat loss analysis that includes size, age, insulation values)
• How efficient is the system for heating? For cooling?
• Is the existing ductwork sufficient for the heat pump system?
• Where will the outside unit go?
• How do you mount the outside unit (should be off the ground)?
• Will I need to clear snow from the outside unit?
• Will the refrigerant lines going to the home be insulated?
• How do you seal any penetrations of the home’s building envelope?
• Where will the inside unit go? Is there enough space?
• What is the rated noise of the outside unit?
• What thermostat will be used and what will it give me control over?
• What will I need to do to maintain this system?
• Does the electrical panel need to be upgraded?
• If so, does the electrical service to the home need to be upgraded?
• What type of training and experience does the contractor have with installing heat pump systems?
• What is the cost of the system?
• What is the total cost installed?
• What additional costs are not included in your quote? (eg electrical work)
• What are the estimated operational costs?

• What supports are available if there are problems with the system?

• Where will the pipes go?
